What is the difference between 24K, 22K, 21K, and 18K?
24K is 100 percent pure gold. It is used for investment bars, not jewellery. 22K is 91.7 percent pure, the most common for Pakistani jewellery. 21K is 87.5 percent pure. 18K is 75 percent pure, often used in modern designs. Lower karats are harder and more durable for daily wear.
What is a Tola and how many grams?
One Tola equals exactly 11.664 grams. This traditional South Asian unit is still used by jewellers across Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh for weighing gold.
What is the Nisab for Zakat on gold?
Nisab is 87.48 grams (7.5 Tola) of pure (24K) gold. If you own this amount for one Islamic lunar year, Zakat of 2.5 percent becomes obligatory. Our calculator automatically converts your gold to 24K equivalent and checks Nisab.
Why do jewellers pay less than the market rate?
Jewellers typically pay 8 to 15 percent below market rate to cover refining costs, their profit margin, and price fluctuation risk. Our calculator includes a “Selling to Jeweller” (10 percent below) option to give you a realistic resale value.
What making charges do Pakistani jewellers charge?
Making charges usually range from 10 percent to 20 percent of the gold value. Simple bangles have lower charges (10 to 12 percent), while intricate necklaces and bridal sets can go up to 20 percent. Always ask for a breakdown before buying.
Which banks offer gold loans in Pakistan?
NBP and BOP offer conventional gold loans at around 65 percent LTV (loan to value). HBL offers up to 70 percent. Meezan Bank provides Islamic gold financing. Some gold finance companies may offer up to 80 percent at higher interest rates. Always verify current terms directly with the bank.
